Some of the paintings that I've finished since my last post. the one on the left is titled "Old Glass", and the one on the right is titled "Lying in the Sun: Self-Portrait". The latter was put in an art show held on the USU campus. The other one was just for fun.

On June 20, I went to Washington DC to go to the Congressional Art Award Ceremony. This is a picture of me with my painting, "Spring in Cache Valley" as it appears in DC. If you happen to be in DC anytime in the next year, you can view it in the Cannon Tunnel. It's a tunnel that connects the Capitol building to the Cannon Building, which has the offices of the members of the House of Representatives. It wouldn't something you see on a regular tour, but you can ask your member of congress about how to get there.

A picture of me with the framed picture in the Springville Art Museum. March 10, 2012. This painting won the First Place Utah Congressional Art Award for Utah's first district. It will be hung in the U.S. Capitol for one year, and I won 2 plane tickets to D.C. to see it there in June.

Fantastic News!

So, I went to talk to my art teacher today about entering my watercolor in the Springville art show. During the conversation, I learned something amazing. I could, potentially, sell my original copy of "Spring in Cache Valley" (my sheep shearing picture) for 500 to 600 dollars! And I have an offer already! Woo hoo!!!  That means a lot to someone who is too lazy to get a job. : ) Anyway, if anyone is interested in a print of this painting, or has any questions, please contact me by leaving a comment below. Good news! I finally told my teacher that I wouldn't have the painting ready for the art show. At first she kind of looked at me funny, then asked why the painting teacher hadn't tried to talk me out of doing this picture. But the good news is that she wasn't mad! She just told me that she would be fine if I brought my watercolor to the show. (You can see it in one of my earlier posts.) Hopefully, I can go shopping for a frame later today.
